FL: You’re Invited to Be Greek For The Weekend

Daytona Beach, FL Exit 260: The 42nd Annual Greek Festival returns to Daytona Beach’s St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and Daytona Beach’s Greek families invite everyone to be “Greek For The Weekend!” OPA!

This must do event is FREE and open to the public and gives everyone a chance to fully immerse yourself in traditional and authentic Greek culture. Join in the celebration by eating, dancing, drinking and singing like a Greek.

A family friendly event, attendees will enjoy traditional, live Greek music, dancing, Greek beer, wine, ouzo and incredible selections of Greek cuisine, featuring favorite family recipes including gyros, fried calamari, pork souvlaki, moussaka, spanakopita and stuffed grape leaves.

Don’t forget the sweets: specialty prepared desserts include baklava, melomakarona (honey walnut cookies), semolina pudding and kourabiethes (almond shortbread cookies). Relax in the coffeehouse, enjoy a beer or glass of ouzo at the Taverna or sip wine at one of the riverfront tables.

Enjoy the sounds of traditional Greek music like the Hasapiko, Zeibekiko, Tsamiko, Sirto and Pentozali while the church’s Saint Demetrios dancers perform folk dances in costume.  There’s also the marketplace where you can browse craft and souvenir booths full of Greek-themed gifts and jewelry.

Tours of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church to discover the Greek religious traditions will be available.

The event is FREE and open to the public, which includes parking and shuttle service.
