Exit 27A>: Beardsley Zoo – Before you leave, print out one of the themed scavenger hunts from their web site, then take a break here (at this 1922 Olmstead designed zoo). Of the 120 species to enjoy, come meet Naka, a female Amur (Siberian) tiger, part of the Special Survival Plan, since only about 44 of these great cats survive.
Pass by the Tropics Rainforest with a free flight aviary, a New England farmyard with goats to feed or bunnies to pet, Alligator Alley, and a pop-up prairie dog exhibit. Animals include a maned wolf, black vulture, otters, ocelots, yellow banded poison frog, vampire bat, bison and one of the smallest primates: a pygmy marmoset.
Don’t forget a ride on the carousel.
