CT: Scale Replicas of Yachts Race at the Model Yacht Regatta

Mystic Seaport, CT Exit 90 : The sport of model racing is a growing rage in the northeast’s boating world. The J Class and the East Coast 12 Meter class will once again take to the water off Mystic Seaport’s North Dock for the astonishing Model Yacht Regatta.

FL: Experience the Natural Phenomena of Bioluminescence While Kayaking on the Indian River

Space Coast, Fl Exit 220 : During the warm summer months the waters of Florida’s Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon come alive with bioluminescence. This natural phenomenon, sometimes referred to as living lights, is caused by tiny, marine organisms, called dinoflagellate.

Bioluminescent creatures, abundant in the warm Indian River water, are not only beautiful and fascinating but are also critical to the existence of most marine life. The singled- celled organisms flashes only a fraction of a second when disturbed by water movement, generating  bluish-white trails of light like a firefly.

Experience the natural beauty of Florida while kayaking  on a warm summer night, inside the Merritt Island Reserve . Witness an aquatic sensational light show caused by a passing school of fish, the illuminated glow of a lackadaisical meandering manatee or sting ray or dolphins swimming right next to your kayak. Every movement in the water produces light.

The best months for viewing bioluminescence are May thru September.
