On December 18, 2010 at the W, “Skating in the Sky,” began. It’s a ice skating experience not to be missed, and is located on the outdoor wraparound terrace of the W New York.
The 12’ by 40’ skating experience has hybrid-ice synthetic rink panels which eliminates the need for refrigeration units, generators, or electricity and is made from recyclable polymer compound, creating an eco-friendly skating experience. The rink also utilizes a non-toxic glide enhancer liquid to reduce friction created by the blade to create the optimum ice rink suitable for skaters of all ages and skill ability.
There’s an specially customized ice bar elevated five stories above ground. It’s Manhattan’s first elevated hotel ice skating experience as well as Lower Manhattan’s first ice bar.
