Explore the Museum’s three floors of galleries containing the world’s most comprehensive collection of artifacts, manuscripts, and photographs from the Confederate States of America.
Be transported back in time as you wander past “Stonewall” Jackson’s forage cap, J.E.B. Stuart’s LeMat pistol, and Robert E. Lee’s field tent.
Learn about lesser-known topics like the daily lives of common soldiers, the Confederate Navy, and art from the period.
“The War Comes Home” and ‘Knickknackery” Curiosities from the Museum’s Vaults” are two exhibits that are especially spectacular.
The first exhibit addresses the effects of way on on the home-front which will include traditional mourning attire, hair art, slave-made items, dolls used for smuggling, and possessions of Confederate women who worked in hospitals.
The second exhibit will feature ‘curiosities’ from the Museum’s vault including a prosthetic arm and a ‘rosette,’ a geometrical design created when Union and Confederate bullets collided in midair.
The Museum organizes and sponsors a variety of lectures and other special events and programs, inviting the public to join us in our exploration of American society in the 1800s.
