Don’t Get Lost in the Caverns!

The Luray Caverns in Luray are the largest caverns in the eastern USA and are a National Landmark. At just one drip at at time, beautiful creations have been created.  One example is the  Giant’s Hall, which are chambers that are  decorated with golden columns, 10-stories tall. The gold colors come from iron and clay soils seeping from the ground along with the calcium carbonate “drips.” Stop by and see many other great formations made from nature.

Skyline Caverns located in Quicksburg  on I-81 between New Market and Mt. Jackson,  is famous for its Anthrodites – Orchids of the Mineral Kingdom – that radiate spike formations resembling flowers.

Grand Caverns in  Grottoes,  offers a breathtaking panorama of subterranean beauty! These caverns were rated #2 in the nation by Parade magazine’s due to its room size, paths, ratio of growing formations to dormant formations as well as overall beauty. Be sure to see The Rainbow Room which showcases the caverns with colored lights.
