ME: Chowdah Cookoff, Chainsaw Carving and Scarecrow Contest

Bethel, ME ( North:  Route 26 S, South: take I-95 N to Exit 63-about 50 miles – one hour): Celebrate the harvest and the beginning of fall foliage season at Bethel HarvestFest.

This festival offers something for everyone: arts, crafts, a farmers’ market, a chowder and apple pie cookoff, Chainsaw carving demo, Cookie Walk, ”Harvest of Local Talent” features musicians performing in the gazebo, FREE horse-drawn wagon rides, and local businesses and nonprofits join in the fun by building and competing for “best scarecrows” decorating the area .

Purchase a bracelet for $10 for unlimited chowdah samples at the Chowdah Cookoff, where hundreds of hungry tasters line up as Bethel area restaurants vie for the title of best chowder, and the apple pie contest that has professionals and amateurs competing for the tastiest, most beautiful pies.
