The Shard is the newest tourist attraction in London and it was fabulous. You lift off in multiple elevators to get to the 72nd floor where there are 360 degree views, viewing platforms, selfie options, a flower wall, and a café. You can walk down to the 68th and 69th floor for more views. Notice here the Tower Bridge, the snaking path of the Thames and the London Eye.
US: Palm Beach, FL – Commemorate Mother’s Day with an Elegant Tea in the Café des Beaux-Arts
Imagine the setting, Henry Flagler’s Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach, a National Historic Landmark, the epitome of elegance and sophistication.
The celebration of Mother’s Day began during the Gilded Age when in May of 1914 Congress established Mother’s Day as a national holiday. In the spirit of this tradition, the Flagler Museum invites all mothers and their families to enjoy a Mother’s Day weekend celebration in the Café des Beaux-Arts. In honor of Mother’s Day, each mother will receive a special flower corsage.
The Museum’s Café des Beaux-Arts will open specially for Mother’s Day weekend on Saturday, May 12th, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and Sunday, May 13th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Tickets include museum admission (and tax, gratuity), so your family can explore the famed Whitehall mansion and get a taste for some of the finer things in turn-of-the-century life.

Join Caroline Harper at Moore Farms Botanical Garden on Thursday, September 28, 2017 for an artful day in the garden at a workshop creating Eco Print Scarves.
Eco printing is basically a direct contact printing method, drawing out pigments from plants to make interesting and often surprising marks on protein (silk) fibre. In this class accomplished artist Caroline Harper will show you how to create 2 silk scarves with foraged leaves, flowers, vegetable skins and other objects found from the garden.
The unique colors and shapes that occur from these materials will make your scarf a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Silk and organic material will be provided but please bring anything you would like to add to embellish your dazzling scarves. Registration is limited to 20 participants. $60 per person

Discover Parks (etc) in Canada for FREE
Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by visiting the our home and native land. Parks Canada is offering all Canadians a FREE 2017 Discovery Pass so there will be no cost to visit any of their sites. You have the option of visiting 148 locations everywhere in the country. You probably think they’re all about national parks but Parks Canada is way more than that – their mandate includes marine conservation areas and national historic sites.
You could visit the wreck of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror in Nunavut, view Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan in Kluane National park, ice fields in Jasper, our country’s birthplace within the fortifications of Quebec, Alexander Graham Bell’s inventions, walk amongst the flower pot rocks on the ocean floor in the Bay of Fundy, Haida Heritage sites, or even Anne of Green Gables‘ writer, Lucy Maude Montgomery’s house.

Germany: Munich: Michael Jackson Memorial Here
Michael Jackson wanted to live in Munich in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. He never got to do it, but the people of Munich have set up a memorial spot to him on the base of a statue of composer Orlande de Lassus (a Renaissance composer) in the grassy median facing the hotel. His loyal fans have put up photos of him and leave flowers, candles and handwritten notes.
