Canadian famous Group of Seven painters started painting the Algoma scenery starting in 1918 with J.E.H. Macdonald. the others in the group are: Lawren Harris, Franklin Carmichael, A.Y. Jackson, Franz Johnson, Arthur Lismer, and Frederick Varley. They hitched a boxcar onto the train going up to the mines in Northern Ontario.
Canada: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario – Traversing Canadian Locks
The Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site’s lock system was completed in 1895 and at the time was part of the world’s longest lock. It was the first to operate with electrical power electricity generated on site in a powerhouse. It was also the first to use an emergency swing bridge dam to protect the lock in case of emergency. Since 1998 the lock has been use for recreational vehicle use only – and is Free to go through.

The CN Tower in Toronto, completed in 1976, is 147 stories high. You can go up and look out on the observation deck on the 114th floor. CN stands for the Canadian National Railway, since the tower was built by the company and is located on former railway land. It remains the signature icon of Toronto’s skyline, with more than 2,000,000 visitors zipping up it every year.

Sir Henry Pellatt, a Canadian stockbroker and entrepreneur built this full-sized castle in Toronto around 1913. It has secret passageways, breathtaking views and elaborately decorated rooms. Unfortunately financial miscalculations caused him to have to leave his “castle on the hill” and he died in poverty.
