The Outer Banks is home to America’s first on-site wind-powered brew pub. The Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills turned on their turbine on Earth Day 2008. The 10 kilowatt wind turbine produces electricity to help power the Brewpub. The Brewing Station is a modern interpretation of a turn-of-the-century Lifesaving Station. The same breezes that propelled the Wright Brothers to aviation history now powers environmentally-friendly beer.
