SC: Colleton County Rice Festival

Walterboro, SC Exit 53: Back in the 1600’s Colleton County was a perfect place for growing rice which both provided food for families and helped to create a way of life for those living in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. For almost 40 years, the Colleton County Rice Festival has celebrated the rich cultural history of the Lowcountry.

Enjoy  a fun-filled week of family activities; stroll the city streets of historic downtown Walterboro and visit the Rice Festival booths  in a street-fair atmosphere featuring hand-crafted art, decorative items, interesting local crafts reflecting Southern culture, and a variety of food choices.

You can expect great food, lively entertainment, rich history, beautiful art, and exciting fun for the entire family.  Activities includes; Rice Run/Walk, Rice Festival ParadeFestival Pageant, Taste of Walterboro, Fireworks Show, Rice Cooking Contest,Live Music, and Dog Show.
