NH: Both a Chili Cook-Off and New England Country Fair in Portsmouth

Portsmouth, NH Exit 7: Bring your appetites and sample some of the best chili the Seacoast has to offer at WHEB’s annual Chili Cookoff.

More than a dozen restaurants serve up their best chili in decorated booths for thousands of attendees to sample and cast their votes for the People’s Choice and see how it measures up to food critics’ Judge’s Choice award.

Enjoy the delicious and generous samplings which restaurants offer, featuring some favorites such as buffalo chili, chicken chili, three-bean chili and seafood chili, just make sure you’re good and hungry. Redhook beer will be offered to complement the scrumptious chili, completing the tasty experience.

Admission gets you unlimited chili samples: $17.50/adults and $6/kids. Kids under 5 are FREE.

Celebrate harvest time at Strawbery Banke Museum’s New Hampshire Fall Festival. Experience a traditional New England country fair complete with demonstrations from craftspeople, heritage breed and farm animal exhibits, livestock demonstrations, unique autumn activities in the Center for Heirloom Garden Crafts, fiber arts, demonstrations and exhibits on historic crafts and industries, coopering, harvest-themed crafts in the Family Discovery Center and garden tours.
Admission is the museum’s entrance fee: $20 adults,  youths (5-17) $10, ages under 5 FREE.
