CT: Scarf Fish and Seafood Then Ride the Vintage Carousel

Madison, CT Exit 62: Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurant – In 1979, Lenny and Joe opened up a roadside clam stand with 4 picnic tables and offered overly generous portions with friendly service.

It has grown into 3 restaurants serving the freshest fish and seafood in a casual, family atmosphere. The portions are definitely shareable, and you won’t have to negotiate what to eat if you just order the seafood platter, which has clam strips, scallops, shrimp and scrod. Whole clams with “firm, flavorful bellies” are a specialty.

There’s a lobster shack offering fresh lobster or chunky buttery lobster rolls, and the ice cream stand opens May – October. This location has outdoor seating and an 1880’s wooden, hand-crafted carousel for the kids. There is a $1.50 charge to ride The Flying Horse Charity Carousel (opened May – Oct) but 100% of the Carousel Proceeds are donated to local charities & organizations.
