VA: Best Block Party in Da Burg

Petersburg, VA Exit 52: Don’t miss the 10th Annual Petersburg Music Festival formerly known as the Halifax Jazz and Blues Festival. The name was changed to incorporate all the genres of music, featuring rhythm and blues, jazz inspirations and soulful gospel.

This FREE fun- filled community event showcases incredible local talents and takes place at the historic Halifax Triangle, formed by Halifax Street, South Avenue (also known as The Avenue) and Harrison Street. In the past, the Triangle and the venues around it have played host to such legendary talents as James Brown, Tina Turner, and Otis Reading. In addition to enjoying some of the best talent in the area, chow down on amazing food and drop by local craft vendors.

Kick off on Friday evening with “Friday for the Arts on the Ave“, a once a month celebration where several businesses around the city open their doors to bestow the love of music and the arts, and where the festival will be going strong. Saturday will be “Jamming on the Ave”. Sunday’s “Holy Ghost Party on the Ave” is the final day of the festival and is a gospel show.
