1 – Round and Round All Night Long
DE Exit 3: Christiana Skating Center – If you want to break up the hours sitting in your car with a little exercise, why not stop for an hour and go roller skating? Rentals are only $2 for regular and $3 for in-line skates.
Holiday specials this week happen on Wednesday Nov 25 and Friday Nov 27, when there’s $5 skating for kids and parents can come in for free. But the best fun is on Thanksgiving night, when there is a $20 all night skate party (7pm to 7am), only for those under 15. No one can leave during the night (unless escorted by a parent), and you cannot bring food, drinks, blankets or pillows with you.
There’s a snack bar on the premises with mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza and something called – polish water ice.. 801 Christiana Rd. Tel: 302-366-0473. www.christianaskatingcenter.biz
2 – Holy Zooks!
FL Exit 121: Superplay USA – With brand new state-of-the-art bowling lanes, bumper bowling for the kiddies, laser tag, miniature golf, batting cages and 45 arcade games, this is a must stop for children of all ages. Food is way beyond
the usual arcade grub – there’s Duffy’s Sports Grille.
Zook is an alien from the planet Jupiter. You may see Zook running around, bowling, playing laser tag (this reminds him of home), cashing in tickets at the Redemption Arcade Counter or playing his favorite video game (Asteroids) in the arcade. Be sure to say “Hi!”.
GA Exit 102: Fun Zone – This amusement area offers go-kart tracks, a kiddie track, paintball (15 min. increments), radio-controlled cars and boats, 80 indoor arcade games (redemption coupons for prizes) and 2 miniature golf courses with ponds, streams and waterfalls. A Nov and Dec special for $10 on Monday-Thursday from noon to 5 allows for 2 hours of unlimited mini-golf and go-karts. There’s a small snack bar on the premises which serves pizza, corn dogs, chicken strips, wings and funnel cake. Hours: Sun-Thurs 12-9, Fri & Sat 10-midnight. Tel: 912-330-9860. www.poolerfunpark.com
4 – Crash Here
VA Exit 130B: Funland – If your seatmates are driving you crazy in the car, kids from 3 to 93 will enjoy this indoor/outdoor amusement area located in the Central Park Mall, from its indoor roller coaster right up to the challenge of a rock climbing wall. There’s laser tag, bumper cars, a soft play area and over 100 arcade games (not for those sensitive to noise) where you can win coupons and redeem them for prizes. Outside, in decent weather there’s go karts, bumper boats, miniature golf and batting cages.
Parents can retire to the cafe and the simple delight of funnel cakes and slushies. Or fill up on pizza, cheeseburgers, nachos or hot dogs. (Look on their site for the coupon page which offers $2 off on pizza). Okay, we’ll admit that we had fun here and spent far too long choosing our silly prizes (candy, slinky, rings, hair clips, pencils). 6 – DROG and TWITTER
You’ll be happy to know that we continue to drog (drive blog = drog) on a regular basis. Our driving adventures demand constant blogging, since there is so much to do, so many yummy tastes and so many things going on along Interstate 95 between Massachusetts and Florida. You can keep checking our web site HERE to see what new things we find and hear about to let you know how to have fun off the road.
Look ahead exit by exit to see which motels (with 800 numbers), gas stations, restaurants, campgrounds, 24-hour pharmacies, auto mechanics, radio stations or radar traps are there, and where you can stay with your pet. We share our stories of the road : history on I-95, museums, trivia, towns to explore or places to run the kids. These can be read for entertainment during the drive, and may entice you to stop, stretch your legs and discover someplace new.
Don’t forget that our radio and TV interviews can always be seen HERE on our site, as well as some of our YouTube videos.
